Tom Merrill is the Workgroup Director as well as the Care Delivery work group manager for the Accountable Care Learning Collaborative where he also serves as the lead primary researcher dedicated to understanding all trends and developments relative to the accountable care movement. He also serves as an ACO Research Manager at Leavitt Partners where his responsibilities include managing research relationships with ACO leadership from across the U.S. and combining the qualitative insights from frontline leaders with market and state level analysis to better understand the evolution of health care in the U.S.
Mr. Merrill has co-authored and contributed to numerous pieces that have come to serve as the industry standard for understanding the magnitude and growth of the ACO model in both government and commercial sectors. He also presents frequently on the origins and concepts behind the accountable care model and its current and potential effect on the broader health care landscape.
His background is in U.S. health policy with an emphasis on payment and delivery reform. He received a bachelor’s degree in political science from Utah Valley University.
